Post Making the move
8) Well... I'm not really a newbie at shooting skeet. I've been shooting for about 3 years on and off. I've been shooting 3 rounds every Sunday from Sept. through June ...Mostly taking the summers off. Like so many others I started with the intent to practice for hunting in the fall but I have really acquired a passion for the sport and want to take it to the next step.

I'm thinking of competing, although it was never my intension. I am to the point where I consistently shoot all the clays except.... Station 6...... High house no problem... on single and double, but the low house gives me fits! I am right dominant eye and a right handed shooter. I shoot a semi auto Browning with a skeet choke... Any suggestions? (Beside buying a Beretta O/U)

Where is your hold point? Where is your look point? Are you shooting sustained lead or swing through? How are your feet positioned on the pad? Does your gun fit? With this information in hand, we may be able to give you some suggestions. Ultimately, your best bet is to find the best shooter around where you are and have him or her watch you shoot a bunch of L6 singles and pairs on 6.

I once got on a squad shooting with Wayne Mayes AND Todd Bender and smashed every target EXCEPT low 6. I missed it on the single, on the option, and then on the double. I ended up with an 88 by missing every one of the low 6's.

Later I realized that my hold point had crept UP and I was loosing the target in the gun as it came out of the house. I lowered my hold point a few feet and can now see the target perfectly.

Give it a try...
