Post Patches
Remington and Winchester use to give our club a few patches to distribute as a reward/momento for progress. This is no longer the case---reckon they can't afford it.We have decided to have our own club patches made.Instead of the Remmy/Win logo these sport our clubs insignia. With a STCP program at full speed and trying to attract new shooters we can afford to buy some "straight" patches for those who have earned them.

It's been my limited experience that a little recognition goes a LONG way towards both attracting and retaining new shooters.

I can't help it but...

"Patches.... we no need no stinkin' patches!!" Laughing (said with a mexican accent)

Seriously though, more clubs should consider having patches made to not only commend those who do well but to advertise their own club. The kids in particular are more likely to wear the patch on a jacket worn to school just to show off. Even as an adult, I was as proud of my first 25 as I was of my first 100. The only problem is that after awhile, you run out of room for them on your vest, you get a new vest and don't transfer them, they get put in a drawer, and no one sees them again until they are clearing out your estate.

Maybe we should find a way to re-cycle these patches in the drawers or on old vests and give the kids at your own club a piece of history passed on to them by a fellow shooter who has been there himself. A new patch is always nice, but one handed down from a friend is also a good thing (according to Martha).
